Response from Jim Sheridan - Linwood Cash Machines

Email sent to MP/Councillors regarding cash machines in Linwood

Dear Local Councillors/MP

It has been brought to our attention by local residents that they are having to spend more thant £10 at their Local Nisa Supermarket when using a debit card for goods.

On looking into this matter further, a number of local residents on our facebook page have now explained that this is to do with local shops incurring the costs for bank charges and therefore have no other option but to charge for this service.

Many of our local stores, such as Nisa have been trying to find a solution to this matter themselves by providing additional cash machines. However, machines that also provide a £5 dispensing option would not only support local residents who are living on a budget but would also allow our local businesses to grow and thrive as it would encourage local residents to use their services more.

We understand that this is a national issue but would be grateful if you could look into this matter in order to support local businesses who are providing a service to local residents.

We look forward to hearing from you.
